A stock tank is a metal trough of water that farmers use for livestock to drink water out of. It’s essentially the world’s largest dog bowl! But the stock tank is used for cattle, sheep, and more. The thing is… all it essentially is is a giant metal bowl. Therefore it’s a perfect size, look, and price for a vessel that can be turned into a pool.

And if you feel a little skeptical about it, know that cowboys have been using them in this way for decades. This is why some folks call it a cowboy pool.

A stock tank pool is the perfect place to relax and cool off. Now don’t get me wrong, you won’t be doing much swimming, unless you are a younger child. But what else do you need that a cool pool of water that reaches just to your neck when you are sitting in it. Some call it a plunge pool for this very reason. You can sit in it, you can even float in it, and you can build it all by yourself!
